Fun not fright, on bonfire nights
Gerry’s message ahead of Bonfire Night:
This year we want bangs, not burns, at firework displays so it’s really important that individuals and families follow the firework code.
I know fireworks can be a worry for many people in Bradford, especially in the run up to Guy Fawkes night and controlling fireworks matters. We need to make sure that fireworks are enjoyed safely and that the majority of people are protected from the small minority who misuse fireworks around this time of year.

3800 homes made warmer
Gerry is celebrating the work of the Warm Front Scheme which has helped more than 3,800 homes in Bradford South with measures that could cut their energy bills by as much as £600 per year.

Gerry presents 10 schools with new equipment
On Friday Gerry attended two separate presentation events at which 10 primary schools within his constituency were given computer and play equipment as part of the Tesco for Schools & Clubs scheme.
The scheme allows schools and clubs to collect tokens for money spent at Tesco stores, which can be redeemed against a variety of computer and other equipment.

Act on CO2 – do your bit, urges Gerry
Gerry this morning added his name to the UK Government pledge to secure an ambitious international agreement at the global climate change negotiations in Copenhagen in December, where the successor to the Kyoto Protocol will be agreed.
